Clay County Christmas
For years, the Chamber has hosted a lighted downtown parade on the first Saturday of December, but in 2012, the fantasy of Christmas magic will come alive with a lighting display that will run through the entire holiday season. This Chamber project is intended to provide enjoyment for all of our Clay County residents and to all the visitors and tourists that we welcome with open arms!
The 2012 Clay County Christmas will become a celebration of community as we plan events at the Henrietta downtown square to create memories for you and your family. The day will consist of “Sled Races”, the Lighted Christmas Parade, a Phase 2 - Grand Lighting Ceremony, and finish with a special visit from Old Saint Nick, himself.
Come watch the cutest Cub Scout troops you’ve ever seen compete against one another in a variety of contraptions as they slide, push, shove, and pull their “sled” around the courthouse square. Be sure to visit their hot chocolate stand to support their community-spirited endeavors.
Lighted Christmas Parade
The evening’s lighted parade is a time-honored tradition held the first Saturday in December in Henrietta. Entries range from floats & vehicles, to pedestrians, to animals all abound in lights that illuminate the streets circling the square. Anyone can participate in the parade; the only requirement is that the entry must be lighted. Please contact the Chamber office at 940-538-5261 or e-mail us at email@example.com to obtain an 2012 Parade Entry Form.
Phase 2 – Grand Lighting Ceremony
Join us as we countdown to the most beautiful illumination of the Courthouse Square this county has ever seen! All the senses will be engaged as the music thumps out the sounds of holiday cheer and the thousands of lights twinkle and dance in the dark winter night. In 2012, the newest addition of lighting the trees will be unveiled! This is a sight you will surely want to share with your relatives and friends when they come to town for special Christmas gatherings. The Courthouse will remain lit from December 1st through January 1st.
Santa – Food – Shopping
Santa will be joining us for our special celebration – look for him appear during the parade! He will also be available for pictures directly following the lighting ceremony. Bring you Christmas list and your best smile to Strategic Realtors on the corner of Bridge and Gilbert directly across the street from the courthouse marquee. One photo is free, but packages will be available to purchase.
Specialty vendors have been invited to tempt your tastebuds during this special event. Look for the Kettle Corn booth, the Pecan Shed’s homemade fudge and flavored pecans, turkey legs and homemade BBQ, salty french fries, and more!
Our local merchants invite all in attendance to start some early shopping sprees by visiting their stores for a late-evening shopping opportunity. Take advantage of their Christmas specials and early-bird deals.
